The 4th of July is such a fun holiday for my family and me. We always have a big party, go to the parade and of course the fireworks! Although this year was a little different than previous years. Our family party was on the July 1st, we did end up going to the parade but went to Bath instead and then had our own firework show right here in Chelsea. It was an incredible day, albeit VERY HOT!
The Bath parade was AMAZING! This is the second year we've gone and I think it was better than last year. It really does a great job honoring veterans and the military as Bath is the home of Bath Iron Works which builds ships for the U.S. Navy. The patriotism in Bath is amazing to watch and I'm so glad that we take the time to travel the 40 minutes every year to catch the parade.
We got home around noon and spent the next few hours sitting in front of the air conditioner. I think us Mainers don't know how to do heat so well. Ha! Once it cooled down we ventured outside to prepare for our own little firework show. We had some great friends stop by to watch the festivities.
All in all it was a great day although I think we should also have the 5th of July off to recuperate. Ha ha!
How did you celebrate the 4th of July?
