I love coffee mugs. The bigger the better. If they have some sort of funny text or meaningful words, I like them even more.
This particular mug is the BEST! It's not only HUGE but its lined with gold and has a great message. So, I was pretty bummed when I didn't listen to the directions clearly printed on the bottom of the mug and put it into the microwave...
Snap! Crackle! Sparks everywhere!
'Oh no' I thought! I burnt my favorite mug.
Then I looked and saw that the mug had melted into the inspirational words on the front and I realized that I had quite literally
dulled my own sparkle.
I think this mug has an even better meaning to it now that it's damaged.
Our negative self talk is more damaging to our sparkle than anything someone else can do/say to us!
Now, I'm not a psychologist, so I'm not going to go into the nuts and bolts about negative self talk, but I will share with you some things that have helped me.
- Recognize when you are putting yourself down and CUT THAT SHIT OUT IMMEDIATELY! You can't change your inner dialogue until you stop the self damaging words.
- Be your own cheerleader. No one is going to cheer you on more than you can! If you look for someone else to do that then you will be constantly disappointed.
- It's ok to brag or boast about your accomplishments when you are talking to yourself. Let it fly and tell yourself how freaking awesome you are!
- There is nothing on the outside (weight, height, hair color, wrinkles) that will change how you feel about the inside if you don't improve how you talk to your self. Ie. losing weight will not make it all better if you can't believe how awesome you are regardless.
And one last message -
