This is me. If you don't know me personally, I'm in the upper left hand corner of this portrait. Next to me is my mom, Amy, and my daughter Addison. Let me tell you a quick little story of how this image came to life.
It was a Sunday. Actually last Sunday. I normally don't change out of my pj's on a Sunday but I had a couple of sessions that day and I wanted to look at least presentable (ie. I did my hair and put some makeup on).
My mom was coming into the studio for a quick head shot session for her new business venture. I had NO intention of being photographed in any way that day, but when Addison came in and said we should all take a picture together, I immediately called my husband to come in and wield the camera.
I wasn't prepared. I didn't have a chance to change my shirt or fuss over my outfit. My hair was frizzy. It was a spur of the moment and I knew that no excuse in the world could keep me from getting in this photograph.
The future flashed before my eyes to a time where I would look at this image and cherish everything about it. This was my chance to capture a portrait of me with my two favorite ladies. A 3 generation photograph and I wasn't missing it!
I was nervous when I went to edit the film. What would I look like? Did I look fat, was my hair frizzy, was my makeup ok? Then something amazing happened. When I looked at the film, all I saw was this precious moment in time that we had captured. We had captured my legacy portrait and I felt so blessed!
Two days after this image was taken I saw this -
So here's my challenge to you. Please for your sake and the sake of the people that love you, GET IN THE PICTURE! I don't care if it's a silly selfie, or candid or professional portrait. The people that love and adore you want to have portraits of you! If you can't do this for your self, do it for them!
I will leave you with one more image that I will cherish for the rest of my life. My two favorite girls. My mom and my daughter! <3
